Motivation letter
No ready-to-copy sample letter is published on this page, on purpose: evaluators read a large number of these letters, and near-identical ones drawn from the same template stand out for the wrong reason. What follows is the format the call itself specifies, not a text to reuse.
Format the call requires
- At least one page.
- Typed in Times New Roman, 12-point.
- Written in the language of your selected study programme, or in Hungarian.
- Uploaded as part of the online application, alongside a recent photo of the applicant (taken no more than two years before the application).
- If you are applying for partial (exchange) studies, the letter must clearly state the length, in months, and the intended start date (September or February) of the exchange.

What tends to matter
The call does not publish a scoring rubric for the letter itself — the entrance examination and the sending partner's own selection process carry the formal points (see the timeline andrequirements). What the letter is for, structurally, is straightforward: say which study programme you chose and why, connect your own background and plans to that specific programme rather than to Hungary or the scholarship in general terms, and keep the length and format exactly as the call specifies, since a wrong format is a document that does not meet the requirements.
