Stipendium Hungaricum is a scholarship programme of the Hungarian government, coordinated by Tempus Public Foundation, for international students who want to study at a Hungarian university. It covers the tuition fee in full and contributes a monthly amount toward living costs and accommodation for the length of the programme. Applicants apply through a sending partner in their home country — usually a ministry or scholarship agency — not directly as individuals. Around 100 countries and territories currently take part, each with its own sending partner and, in some cases, its own local deadline or entrance test. This site tracks the official dates, requirements and country-specific steps so applicants do not have to piece them together from several sources.
The six steps
- Read the call for applications and prepare your documents. Motivation letter, school certificates and transcripts, a copy of your ID or passport, and proof of language proficiency, translated if needed. See required documents.
- Submit your application to Tempus Public Foundation in theonline application system before the deadline shown above.
- Submit your application to your sending partner as well. Each sending partner sets its own procedure and, sometimes, an earlier local deadline — see thecountry pages.
- Wait for your nomination. Your sending partner reviews and pre-selects applications, then sends a nomination list to Tempus Public Foundation.
- Take the entrance examination set by your chosen university or universities, once you are nominated. See the full timeline.
