How to apply

2027/2028 cycle — not announced yet

Tempus Public Foundation has not published the call for the 2027/2028 round yet. Based on the pattern of previous rounds — this 2026/2027 round opened in early November 2025 with a 15 January 2026 deadline — applications are expected to open in November 2026, with a deadline in mid-January 2027. This is a pattern, not an official date, so no estimated date is shown on the page.

There is no fee at any stage of a Stipendium Hungaricum application. Everything is done through two channels: the Tempus Public Foundation online system and your own country's sending partner. Both need your application; neither is optional.

  1. Choose up to two study programmes. Browse host institutions and study programmes in the online application system, and choose up to two, in order of preference. The order matters: your first choice is evaluated first, and cannot be changed after the deadline.
  2. Register and complete the online application form. Register with an e-mail address you check regularly — avoid addresses that may change or that often misroute official mail to spam. Fill out the form in English and accept the Statement for Application and the Privacy Notice.
  3. Upload your documents. Upload the motivation letter, proof of language proficiency, school certificates and transcripts (translated if not already in the language of the study programme or in Hungarian), a copy of your ID or passport, and the personal-data page for the medical certificate. Files are limited to 4 MB each.
  4. Submit before the deadline and click "submit". An application only saved, but never submitted, is rejected automatically. Submission and payment are free of charge — no agency or intermediary is needed.
  5. Apply to your sending partner as well. Submit your application to your own country's sending partner too, on that partner's own schedule and by its own rules — see the country pages for the sending partner that matches your citizenship.
  6. Wait for nomination, then take the entrance exam. If your sending partner nominates you, your chosen host institution or institutions will contact you directly about the entrance examination.
  7. Accept the scholarship and arrange your visa. If awarded, accept the scholarship in the online system within the deadline given in your notification e-mail, then start the visa or residence-permit process.
